April 14, 2015 Day 008

We hiked off of Hawk Mountain. We hiked to a road 0.6 miles from Hawk Mountain and needed a break. We took off our packs and sat down to rest. Viki’s stomach was sore and I saw some blood on her shirt. She had bad chaffing around her stomach.

When I saw how bad it was I decided we all needed a day or two off of the trail. We managed to get Gigs phone working with the solar charger my friend sent me and called a shuttle to pick us up. The driver’s name was Gene. Gene managed to stuff all six of us and our packs into his hatchback and drive us 30 minutes to the nearest hostel. We were lapping like the old days.

Gene took us to an amazing place. Wolf Pen Gap Country Store. The owners let us tent in their backyard for a nominal fee. We paid for showers, laundry, and pizza. Everyone definitely needed the break. And best of all, we were out of the rain and everything was dry again.
